“WE PROCLAIM HIM, ADMONISHING AND TEACHING WITH ALL WISDOM SO WE CAN PRESENT EVERYONE PERFECT IN CHRIST.” COLOSSIANS 1:28

MODULE 2 LESSON 2

Application: Putting Scripture into Practice

Now it is time to take what we’ve learned and put it into practice!

We are creating a mini class based on scripture.

Call to Action:

Step One: Which of the ways listed below will be your compass for selecting your scripture?

Select one.

Refer to Lesson 2 for an in-depth explanation of each option if needed.

Seasonal- Using a scripture based on the seasons, time of year, holidays, or milestones.

Visual Imagery- Using scripture with vivid imagery and paints a word picture in the practitioner’s mind.

Personally Inspired- Using a scripture for a class that speaks personally to you. You may share a story with it.

God Inspired- Praying and using the scripture for a class that God shows you.

Take Note: This is a wonderful opportunity to refer to your Master List we began building in lesson 1.

Step Two

Create a mini class. Select 10 poses total from the style of yoga you were trained in. Incorporate scripture in the ways we discussed from lesson 3 and 4, Where, When, and How to Apply Scripture in a Class Format and Pairing Poses with Scripture.

Guidelines for Class Creation:

There should be a beginning, middle, and end to your mini class format. Scripture should be used at the beginning and end of your class in its entirety and then interspersed throughout as you feel led. Open and close with the scripture in its entirety but feel free to shorten the scripture while teaching the class. There should be one scripture and pose pairing (from lesson 4). Example: Pair scripture to Warrior 1. This should feel like a real class from start to finish, even though it’s only 8-10 poses. It shouldn’t be longer than 10-12 minutes. Use the VAK learning modality.

The VAK Learning ModalityVisual- Demonstrate the poses.Auditory- Cue how to get into the poses.Kinesthetic- Explain what you feel in the poses. In essence, the VAK learning modality helps instructors to embrace these three principles: Name the Pose, Do the Pose, Describe the Pose. Listen to the video for further comprehension.

Step Three- Record the ClassMake a video of your mini class.  Upload and share your video to our private Facebook group. Please have this completed by the next group mentor call on Thursday at 1 pm CT. It’s your time to shine for Christ from the mat! Hallelujah!Be the teacher God has called you to be; You can do all things through Him who gives you strength. Philippians 4:13. For a video recap of this lesson, watch here!
