Put it Into Practice: Prayer
It’s now time to share our knowledge of prayer and practice teaching with one another!
In this lesson, we create a Mini Class using various types of prayer.
(Refer to Lesson 2 and 3 for an in-depth explanation of each option if needed).
Take Note: This is the perfect opportunity to refer to your Prayer Journal we began building at the beginning of this module.
Call to Action Part One:
Step 1:
Select a scriptural theme.
Step 2:
Open the class in prayer. You can do this in several ways. (Lesson 2)
You can pray before you introduce the scriptural theme. You can pray and introduce the scriptural theme in the prayer. You can pray and then reveal the scriptural theme afterward. You can use the ACTS model. You can pray led by the Holy Spirit and create your own. You can use a set prayer. (lesson 3)
Step 3:
Select 2 places in the mini class where you integrate prayerful poses.
Reminder: These are short, one phrase prayers that make a request to God as we hold the pose. You may create one and repeat that prayer or create a few differing prayerful poses. Take Note: In a one-hour class, you would use these up to 6 times in class.
For example:
Backbends: Lord, I lift my heart to you.
Step 4:
Close your class with one of the prayers you wrote.
Guidelines for Class Creation:
There should be a beginning, middle, and end to your mini class format. Our mini-class should feel like an authentic class from start to finish, even though it’s only 6-8 poses. It shouldn’t be longer than 10 minutes. Use the VAK learning modality.
Visual- Demonstrate the poses.
Auditory- Cue how to get into the poses.
Kinesthetic- Explain what you feel in the poses.
Reminder: For time’s sake, you do not have to hold the poses for the full length of time, nor do you have to do the poses on each side. This mini-class is designed to help you practice integrating the new prayer techniques.
Step Three- Record the Class
Upload and share your video to our private Facebook group.
Make a video of your mini class.
Please have this completed by the next group mentor call on Thursday at 1 pm CT.
It’s your time to shine for Christ from the mat! Hallelujah!
Be the teacher God has called you to be!
You CAN do all things through Him who gives you strength.
