“WE PROCLAIM HIM, ADMONISHING AND TEACHING WITH ALL WISDOM SO WE CAN PRESENT EVERYONE PERFECT IN CHRIST.” COLOSSIANS 1:28
MODULE 5 LESSON 5
Put it Into Practice: Create a Christian Yoga Class- 4
Now it’s your turn to follow the steps below and make a Christian yoga masterpiece.
Before you begin, pray. Jesus is the author and perfector of your faith. Allow Him to be the one who shows you what this class outline entails. Hebrews 12:2.
Step 1: Select a Scriptural Theme
Select a Scriptural theme from your master list based on a scripture that illustrates God Inspired, personally inspired, visual imagery, or seasonal. (Select one only).
Step 2: Open the Class by reading the scripture in its entirety, prayer (any type), or using a devotion. Reminder: If you chose to read a devotion, you would still integrate the scripture first.
Step 3: Pair. You may use prayerful poses, scripture with poses, breath meditation, or “I AM” statements.
Step 4: Final Relaxation: Use the scriptural theme, prayer (any type), breath meditation, “I AM” Statements, or devotion (written by you or an author).
Step 5: Close the class with the scriptural theme, prayer (any type), or devotion.
Into Action:
Next, write out your class in its entirety, from start to finish. Complete with poses, breathing techniques, cues, etc. Ideally, this would be for the amount of time you are accustomed to teaching (like one hour).
Post a picture of your completed class outline and post it to the PCYTT Facebook group. Label it PCYTT Class Outline 4.
Write or type out your completed class. If you use notes when teaching, you will want to begin to place these notes into one place like a folder, binder, or notebook.
Going Deeper:
Post the Video in the PCYTT Facebook group and label it PCYTT Module 5 Class.
Make a 15-minute video of you teaching this class. It is unnecessary to hold the poses the full amount of time or do everything on each side. Make this your best effort at teaching Christian yoga using all the components of scriptural use, Christian meditation, and prayer.
Guidelines for Class Creation:
Use the VAK learning modality.
There should be a beginning, middle, and end to your class format.
Don’t duplicate any of the above key elements. Each step should be different from the other. For example, If you select prayer to open the class with, don’t use it again anywhere else. Try to incorporate a different key element.
Visual- Demonstrate the poses.
Auditory- Cue how to get into the poses.
Kinesthetic- Explain what you feel in the poses.
Be mindful of time when teaching as you cannot load videos longer than 20 minutes on Facebook.
Final Thoughts:
For future reference on creating all class outlines, use this formula for consistent success. Remember each step has multiple options in regards to how you want to proceed.
